Lover of the San Juans

Spotlight with Chelsea Brown

@chelseaannbrown
Denver, CO - escaping to adventure as often as I can!

Q: What do you never leave home without?
A: Chapstick, snacks & a koozie.

Q: If you could be anywhere in the world right now where would it be?
A: How can I choose? There are so many incredible places I wish I could just wake up tomorrow and be in. However . . . considering that it’s July in Colorado, I’d be pretty happy just rambling around some backcountry valley in the San Juans, climbing peaks, sleeping under the stars, staring at wildflowers and doing a little fishing!

Q: Favorite beer or alcohol of choice?
A: I’m a big wine drinker. Love sauv blanc and rose for the summer and a big red in the winter. I love a good cold Mexican beer after a day in the sun or on the slopes and am having fun learning a little bit more about all the cool craft beers around Denver.

Q: What is the Mountain Standard Time Zone’s best kept secret? (Feel free to leave out exact location details so no one steals your secret spot)
A: It’s certainly not a secret but I’m a huge fan of southwestern Colorado and the San Juan mountains (it also helps that I grew up down there!). It’s little more rugged and remote and a little more off the beaten path than some of the more well-known Colorado destinations. It’s a pretty special area.

Chelsea rockin' the RIMBY Trucker Hat

Q: What is your favorite Mountain Standard piece and why?
A: I love my RIMBY hat because I love when people ask what it means! I’m anxiously awaiting the women’s line so I haven’t acquired any men’s pieces, but I absolutely love the utility fleece blanket. So far it has been an awesome addition to park days, camping trips, and my couch.

Q: Mountains, Rivers, Deserts or Oceans?
A: Can’t I have them all?! Mountains and rivers will always feel most like home. I grew up camping in the desert for almost all my family vacations so it holds a special place in my heart as well. But the sand and the salt air . . . the ocean is definitely a happy place for me too!

Q: Favorite activitie(s) that you partake in the MS Time Zone?
A: I love it all! Trail running, hiking, fly fishing, riding my road bike, camping, stand-up paddleboarding, skiing, snowshoeing, road trips, sitting somewhere quiet with good friends and just enjoying what’s around me.

Q: Vehicle of choice for road trips or dream vehicle?
A: I dream of owning an Airstream trailer or a camper van one of these days, but right now my Jeep Grand Cherokee gets me around pretty well and is pretty comfy to sleep in, too.

Q: Favorite road trip / camping food?
A: I’ll probably never be sick of PB&J (has to be crunchy peanut butter!), breakfast burritos, or watermelon. I also love anything crunchy and salty so I always have some kind of trail mix on hand or my guilty pleasure, Cheez-its (life is short!)

Q: What kind of product do you want to see Mountain Standard make in the future?
A: Bring on the women’s line! Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Q: Favorite spot RIMBY (Right in My Backyard)?
A: American Basin outside of Lake City, CO is my favorite place in the world. And was truly right in my backyard as I grew up 23 miles down the road.
