Field Review: Hooded Down Jacket

Field Agent Alex Biale has a special relationship with the cold. As an avid climber currently situated on Colorado's Front Range, every winter his climbing goals confront snow, sleet, and single digits on a weekly basis. For Alex, the MS020 Hooded Down Jacket is the perfect answer to not-so-perfect weather.

"Climbing puffies should be four things: warm, light, unobtrusive, and durable. The MS020 Hooded Down Jacket is all of these"

Product: MS020 Men's Hooded Down Jacket
Field Agent: Alex Biale
Testing Locations: Front Range, CO; Yosemite, CA; Rocky Mountains, CO

Super warm, super light. That’s what the MS020 Hooded Down Jacket is all about. Quilted, 700-fill Goose down kept Alex toasty during a mid-December bouldering session, while the rip-stop nylon outer with DWR (durable water resistant) finish kept him dry in an unexpected afternoon snow squall. While it performed exceptionally as a bomber belay or bouldering parka, Alex says, “it’s super lightweight (18.4 oz), making it perfect for long climbs where every ounce counts, and with the athletic fit it's easy to forget you’re wearing a down parka!” Alex took the jacket out on Colorado 14ers, multipitch routes in Yosemite, and many snowy bouldering sessions. Whatever the occasion, “this is my go-to down jacket.”
